Bear in Heaven - The Reflection of You

It’s no secret that Jack in the Pocket adores Bear in Heaven.  Their music is phenomenal, they gave one of the best endings to an interview ever, and they’re three of the nicest dudes around.  Here’s a shimmering new track from their upcoming album I Love You, It’s Cool due to drop on April 3.  I have NO WORDS for my excitement for this record to come out!  NO WORDS.

Hey Columbus, don’t miss these guys on March 30 at The Basement!!!

Fanfarlo - Shiny Things

On Monday, NPR premiered Fanfarlo's mind-bending new music video for their single “Shiny Things” from their upcoming release Rooms Filled With Light. The band also released a trippy video for the song “Replicate" last September.  After these amazing teases, I am incredibly antsy to hear the rest of the album!

Rooms Filled With Light hits stores on February 28. The band will be touring North America in March and April.

Music: Adrian Lux - Teenage Crime

Wanderlust-inspired photographer, Laila Elizabeth Archuleta, has created a beautiful video that captures the essence of her roaming spirit with clips from her adventures between June of 2001 and January 2012.

Laila states: "There is something about travel that is so vividly ingrained in me. The oscillation of moving vehicles is more soothing than any mother’s hymn could be. Comfort is feeling at home in an instance in which you will very well never be able to return to. There is such severe lack of constants, so ‘let the great world spin.’"

If you dig this, be sure to check out Laila’s photography website for more eye candy.

If you’ve been following this blog for some time, Laila’s name may sound familiar. That’s because she shot the stellar photos for our interview with Neon Indian back in 2010.

Fort Wilson Riot - For All The Little Things

Many, many great bands have sprouted from the seeds of romance.  For example, The White Stripes, Arcade Fire, Mates of State, John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band are just a few!  I’ll be so bold as to add Fort Wilson Riot to that list. What a magical musical couple these two make! Minneapolis’ Amy Hager and Jacob Mullis craft intimate and aggressive avant-garde tunes that tug at heartstrings and fill you with an uncontrollable urge let your appendages flail in a wild dance.  Amy’s sultry singing mix with Jacobs gruff vocals and combine with synths, drum machine, driving guitar, and even some trumpet.  The couple is constantly touring, making frequent stops in Columbus, OH to play with their good friends The Town Monster. They’ll be announcing more dates very soon.

Pick up a copy of Generation Complex, Fort Wilson Riot's split EP with Phantom Tails.  If you’re like me, you won’t be able to stop listening (or dancing).

Dog Bite - Prettiest Pills

BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW!  Check out this fresh slice of chill pie from Dog Bite! The mastermind behind this audio awesomness is Atlanta, Georgia’s very own Phil Jones.  This guy is a wave wizard.  He plays synth, some percussion and back-up vocals for Washed Out’s band. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I interviewed Ernest Greene last year.

If this is any indication, it looks as if we should expect great things from music in 2012.

I posted about Dog Bite's track Machino Machino on my old blog a few months before it closed, so incase you missed it, HeadUnderwater reblogged.
